Get Cultured! celebrates the uniqueness of the starter culture. A collection of kefir, tibicos, sourdough, and kombucha are presented to the audience. In this workshop, we discuss ferments that require inoculation – their history, how to feed them, and the delicious transformative foods they create. Followed by a tour of the Fermentation on Wheels bus and a culture swap. This event is free and open to the public!
Come early and visit Countryside Farmers Market, open from 9am to noon, also indoors at Old Trail School!
Fermentation on Wheels, born in Oregon’s Willamette Valley in May 2013, is a grassroots project that provides free food education and inspires people through workshops, community events, and visual arts projects that raise awareness about food sustainability as well as teach fermentation. The project’s founder, Tara Whitsitt, organizes potlucks and teaches fermentation in a school bus that she converted into a creative kitchen and workshop space.
