Fermentation, Food Security & Urban Agriculture

Denver Urban Gardens and Five Points Fermentation Co. are proud to present: Fermentation, Food Security & Urban Agriculture – a lecture, tour & dinner with special guest Sandor Katz.

Sandor Katz & The Art of Fermentation: Fermentation Revivalist Sandor Ellix Katz will present his new book about fermentation (as well as coevolution, culture and community). Sandor Katz is a self-described fermentation fetishist. His fermentation explorations developed out of overlapping interests in cooking, nutrition and gardening. He is also an herbalist and an activist and a writer and a builder and a craftsperson and a bicyclist and many other things: a generalist.

Denver Urban Gardens comes alongside residents and together we grow community, one urban garden at a time. Through more than 120 community gardens across Metro Denver, DUG provides residents of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to gather and learn together, and grow their own fresh, healthy food. Community partnerships are crucial to the long-term success of each DUG community garden, and we are thrilled to call Five Points Fermentation Company a partner in creating access to local food, and working to improve community health.

At this event, come meet Sandor Katz, hear about his new book, ask questions, get a copy inscribed to you and meet fellow fermenters.  Also, learn more about how Denver Urban Gardens is working with community members and businesses to help create a happier, healthier, more food secure community.  There will be a lecture followed by a tour of MoonDog Farms, an urban farm supporting Five Points Fermentation Company and the Mercury Cafe.  The evening will culminate with a fermentation feast presented by the Five Points Fermentation Company & Beet Box Bakery at the Queen Anne Bed and Breakfast in downtown Denver.

Suggested Donation is a sliding scale of $15 – $25 with all proceeds going to Denver Urban Gardens.  Space is limited, please RSVP tofivepointsfermentation@gmail.com
