Now in its fifth year, Ferment Change is an annual, volunteer-run celebration of fermentation culture that takes place throughout the Bay Area. The event features multiple vendors / makers of fermented food offering samples of their product as well as workshops on making such things as sauerkraut, tempeh, kimchi and kombucha.
Every year, we donate all proceeds to urban agriculture and food organizations that are doing great work in our community. This year we are supporting Phat Beets Produce, a food justice collective. Phat Beets Produce mission is to connect small farmers of color to urban communities through the creation of clinic based farmers markets, school based farm stands, youth market gardens, incubators farms and community kitchens. They now support two certified, clinic-based farmers’ markets, one youth-led school farm stand and community nutrition hub, and a youth market garden in partnership with a local hospital obesity prevention program.
Come out and support Phat Beets while exchanging ideas and learning about fermented food!
